It is 44 years of 1976 June 16 uprising. They refused to succumb to the brutality and inhuman practices that the Apartheid regime imposed on them. Today, the 2020 youth are looking back in commemoration of the bold action that they took in setting them free from the captivity of the prey. The June 16 veteran activist Penelope Baby Tyawa was 15 years old when she was first jailed for resisting the apartheid regime and was detained in multiple jails, held for months in isolation, assaulted and tortured by suffocation at the notorious John Voster Square. Her wealth of knowledge lead to us to request her to share with us her journey. We invite you from around GAUTENG, from different sectors. We have a dynamic panel which will share their experiences; they seek to empower and equip young women and move our country forward.
